Class Descriptions
uBuA Ballet Class Levels/Descriptions
(Ages are approximate and placement is based on size and ability.)
BALLET 1: For ages 4 – 6. Working at the ballet Barre, stress is placed on proper body alignment. primary ballet positions and terminology will be covered. Rhythm patterns are introduced along with the beginning fundamentals of ballet in a creative and fun atmosphere.
BALLET 2: For ages 7 – 9 Basic positions and terminology are elaborated on while the fundamentals of ballet are reinforced. Students learn to couple ballet steps together to create movement phrases within the classical framework. Continued emphasis is placed on proper body alignment.
BALLET 3: For ages 10-13 continued emphasis on proper body alignment. Increasing awareness of ballet musical phrasing, moving arms and legs together, correct alignment and ballet terminology will be emphasized in a structured and fun environment. (11-13 year old students who are ready will begin emphasis on pre-pointe exercises.)
BALLET 3/4: For ages 10-17 this is a mixed level class continued emphasis on proper body alignment. A solid preparation for pointe work is begun for younger students. Increasing awareness of ballet musical phrasing, moving arms and legs together, correct alignment and ballet terminology will be emphasized in a structured and fun environment. This class is also for high intermediate level students with are looking for greater technical proficiency.
BALLET 4: For ages 14 and up. Or for students who have completed several years of serious study and have begun pointe work. A more in-depth study of ballet technique continues, with continued emphasis on artistic phrasing. Also for high intermediate and advanced level students who have progressed to a greater technical proficiency. Performance training continues with emphasis placed on artistry and classical variations.
GOLDEN SWAN/ADULT BALLET: A welcoming ballet class for adults of all experience levels – whether you’re brand new, returning after time away, or continuing your training. Build strength, flexibility, balance, and grace while enjoying the artistry of ballet in an encouraging, supportive environment designed especially for adults. Wear comfortable exercise attire or traditional dance wear, whatever helps you move with ease and confidence.
