DITSAZ RECEIVES GRANT FROM AZ COMMISSION ON THE ARTS
Dancing In The Streets AZ (DITSAZ) of Tucson, AZ has been awarded a $7,000 grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, an agency of the State of Arizona. The grant was one of 369 grants awarded this year to nonprofit arts organizations, arts festivals, and arts learning programs throughout the state, representing a total investment of $2,403,110.
DITSAZ is honored to announce we have been awarded funding from the Arizona Commission on the Arts to support our work over the coming year. This grant will help us continue providing high-quality, inclusive ballet training to students of all ages in South Tucson-many from low-income families and underserved communities. From our beloved annual Nutcracker to community outreach programs and our new Golden Swans Adult Ballet class, this funding strengthens our mission to make the beauty of ballet accessible to everyone.
“We are deeply grateful to the Arizona Commission on the Arts for investing in our vision of an inclusive, diverse ballet community,” said Soleste Lupu and Joseph Rodgers, Co-Founders and Artistic Directors of Dancing In the Streets AZ. “This grant ensures that our dancers-from young beginners to seasoned performers-can experience the joy, discipline, and artistry of ballet, regardless of financial barriers.”
“Through the Arizona Commission on the Arts, the State of Arizona endeavors to ensure that all Arizonans can participate in and experience the arts,” said Christina You-sun Park, Executive Director of the Arizona Commission on the Arts. “Through these grants the Arts Commission partners with organizations across the state that are dedicated to serving their communities through the arts”
In accordance with the Arts Commission’s strategic plan and governing statutes, schools and nonprofit arts organizations are awarded grants based on such factors as quality of programming, public benefit, and responsible stewardship of public funds. All grant applications undergo rigorous public panel review, led by Governor-appointed Commissioners and composed of diverse community leaders, volunteer experts, educators, and arts practitioners from across Arizona ###
